The Gathering Cafe and Tanay Hills Coffee Beanery: Tanay Restaurants

The Gathering Cafe: Tanay Hills Coffee Beanery and Grill House

One early morning, while on our way to visit Our Lady on the Hills at Regina RICA, we passed by this signage that says The Gathering Cafe. With hubby having to fetch me early straight from work, we were quite hungry so we became curious and decided to check it out.

The place is an open-air restaurant, taking advantage of the cool climate the uphill area has. It is being surrounded by trees and lots of wide open spaces that also serves as parking space. It also has 3 mini nipa huts or kubos where guests can also dine.

We were informed that the place opens as early as 7am, but the availability of food depends on what time the cook arrives. We were lucky that she got in early so we were able to have our breakfast here. We ordered Canton Guisado for Php100, which is good for 3 persons; Special Lomi Batangas for Php50, supposedly good for one person; and Brewed Barako coffee for Php30. Their food was surpringly good and very tasty. Their canton has a bit of sauce, with its veggies a bit crispy. Their lomi was very creamy that hubby said he wanted to have some, too. Their coffee tasted great and was strong enough to keep me awake the whole morning.

The restaurant also serves as an event place for meetings, birthdays and even weddings. Guest have the option to reserve the open-air dining area extending to the nipa huts with its 100-plus-seat capacity or the air-conditioned conference room with 70-seat capacity.

We enjoyed our breakfast here so much that we decided to return that weekend ,along with the rest of the family, after our thanksgiving visit at Regina RICA. This time, we ordered Papaitan, Liempo, Crispy Pata, Fried Chicken together with rice, drinks and bowls and bowls of Lomi. We were a group of 3 kids and 7 adults and our bill was just Php1,600! We think it was quite a steal given the relaxed ambiance and the delicious food we had.

The place also has a mini shop, which was closed during our first visit. Here, they sell sari-sari store stuff together with bags, accessories and their very own product, coffee of course!
