Aniceto's Pension House: Puerto Princesa Budget Accommodation

After getting our Visitors Entry Permit for the Underground River tour, we then proceeded to our Puerto Princesa budget accommodation of choice, Aniceto's Pension House.

A month before the trip, I already reserved a room here (through email) because of its good feedback as a budget accommodation in Puerto Princesa. As it turned out, Ms. Tess, the proprietress, wasn't able to take note of the reservation because of a PC/email malfunction. They ended up giving us a room reserved by a guest that was to check in the following day.

The pension house is 3-storey building with roof deck. The ground floor functions as the receiving area with a mini-store and a PC which you can rent. The second floor has a common area where guests can watch TV or just people watch from the veranda, while the third floor has a reading area with a great view of the ocean.

The roof deck houses the kitchen where guests can cook their own food. It's also where you'll find the garden, which offers a much greater view of the ocean and lots of great spots for picture taking.

The pension house has fan rooms with common bathrooms and AC rooms with private bathrooms, located both at the second and third floors. Their Wi-Fi is pretty strong in the common areas but not as strong when inside the rooms.

Aniceto's Pension House is quite famous with foreign tourists. We saw at least 4 of them occupying different rooms during our stay and some of them have been staying there for almost 2 months.

The rooms are pretty basic (hey, it's a pension house), so don't expect hotel-type accommodations. Ours was an AC room for two with private bathroom located at the third floor. This was fine with us since what we really needed was a place to sleep in, as we were out most of the time. Water supply is being cut off every 10pm and turned on at 5am, so make sure that you have enough water supply to last the whole night. However, you can still request them to turn it on for you if the need arises.

We were billed Php2280 (Php760 per night) upon checkout, and I was meaning to ask for a discount because of the reservation mix up. Unfortunately, we're not able to get any because Ms. Tess was not around that time and we had to check out early. All in all, our stay here was quite enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Aniceto's Pension House as one of Puerto Princesa's budget accommodation.
