Securing Visitors Entry Permit at the Underground River Booking Office

Upon our arrival at the Puerto Princesa Airport, we immediately set out to find a trike that would take us to the Underground River Booking Office to obtain Visitors Entry Permit for our Underground River (UR) tour. We followed the tips I read from bloggers and walked a few meters to exit the airport premises before hailing a trike, as this is cheaper, for the regular fare of Php8. We were stopped by a manong while on our way to the exit gate and he offered to take us to our destination for just Php20, saving us Php30 if we were to ride trikes waiting for passengers just outside the airport.

At the Underground River Booking Office, we were asked to present a valid ID, fill out forms and choose our preferred schedule for the UR tour. I was initially worried that we won't be able to obtain the Visitors Entry Permit because, as everybody knows, the Puerto Princesa Underground River is now officially one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. A large influx of tourists has led the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park management to set a quota of just 900 visitors per day. Luckily, we were well within the quota, so we chose to have the tour scheduled at 1pm the next day and paid the Underground River Tour fee of Php175 each. This covers our entrance to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and the guided paddle boat tour.
