Puerto Princessa City Tour: Irawan Eco-Park, Asia's Longest Canopy Zipline

Day 1: Puerto Princesa City Tour

Irawan Eco-Park

From Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, we proceeded to our next stop, the Irawan Eco-Park, home of Asia's Longest Canopy Zipline. The location of the Irawan Eco-Park is not that far from the Crocodile Farm. We first stopped by Hacienda Breboneria, which houses the Irawan Art Cafe and Gallery and also doubles as the ticketing office. Here, we registered and paid Php800 each for the 1.3km Forest Canopy Zipline ride.

We were then transported uphill to the Business and Parking Station aboard a converted multicab. This is where the helmets, cables and harnesses are being kept and it serves as the reception area as well. It was already raining when we reached the station so we had to wait for it to stop before we can proceed with the zipline activity. After putting on our helmet and harness, we busied ourselves, looking at several artwork pieces displayed around the place.

All geared up!

The rain temporarily stopped so we were led to the boarding station for the 1.3km Asia's Longest Canopy Zipline. There are three lines composing this zipline: 900m, 300m and 100m. The first zipline, naturally, is the longest and highest of the three. We had to climb about less than 100 steps or so to reach the jump off point. Hubby went first because it's his first time to try ziplining and was so excited. When it was my turn to go, the crew wouldn't let me because it started to rain again and the winds were too strong, causing the trees to hit the cables. He said he's afraid that the trees might injure me as I pass through the canopy for the first landing. We tried to wait for the winds to stop but unfortunately, it became stronger. I had no choice but to pass on this activity, get contented with the photos and just get a refund from the ticketing office.

The crew then suggested that I just meet hubby at the last landing, meaning I had to go down via the same slippery steps we had climbed earlier. He assisted me all the way and proved their policy that safety comes first. Though I was disappointed that I wasn't able to experience Asia's Longest Canopy Zipline (hence, no bragging rights), I appreciate the fact that the zipline crew put my safety above all else and did not mind that they would have to give me a refund.

And I had to be contented with this..

Survived the 1.3km zipline!
