Early morning of Good Friday, March 29, 2013, we piled inside Tara (our nickname for the Suzuki Vitara) and drove to our first church for the Visita Iglesia, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine. As what can be expected during Holy Week, there were lots of people visiting churches around the metro and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine is no exception.
When we got there, a stage was set up in the front of the altar which made me think that there will be a presentation. True enough, when we were about to leave, a number of young adults started lining up along the aisle followed by a few parents. I think it was some sort of a community sharing session about the challenges these individuals faced in their lives and how they had overcome them through improving their relationship with God. We didn't stay long enough after the first set of presentation for me to confirm this.

Aside from being a pilgrimage church to devotees, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine is also one of the favorite choices for couples to be wed. In fact, the parish has an activity center beside it which is quite popular as a wedding reception venue. I think one factor that makes it quite famous is that although it is situated right at the middle of the city and is very accessible to everyone, the church surroundings is actually quiet and solemn.
