After our buffet breakfast, courtesy of the Tagaytay Haven Hotel, we went to Sky Ranch to try out the Sky Eye of Sky Fun Amusement Park. Now that's a lot of skies that it's quite confusing, I know. Sky Fun is the name of the amusement park located inside Sky Ranch Tagaytay, which is a leisure park located beside Taal Vista. The Sky Eye is currently claimed to be the country's tallest ferris wheel at 207 feet, surpassing MOA Eye's 180 feet height. It has 32 air-conditioned gondolas presenting guests with a breathtaking view of Taal at over 2,000 feet.

We arrived there quite early and I was surprised to see that there were already a number of cars parked and a line has already formed at the ticket booth where we were to pay the entrance fee. Maybe it was because the park had just opened its gates. When we went out a little bit later, the crowd had thinned out because people were now inside the park. Haha!

The regular entrance fee is priced at Php100 per person but we were able to avail of the 50% discount, valid until May 30, 2013. Kids below 3 feet get in for free. They also get to ride the carousel for free but they must be accompanied by an adult with a ride ticket. The entrance fee is separate from the individual ride fees, which can be purchased from the 2 ticket booths inside the Sky Fun Amusement Park. The lines could get quite looong so I suggest that you alredy decide on what rides you're going to take and purchase those in one go. The ticket booth near the entrance has a longer line than the one near the Super Viking ride.

We first tried the Sky Eye, taking advantage of the few people falling in line for the ride. We were anticipating it would get very crowded later on in the morning. Hey, it's a weekend so what should we expect, right.

About to ride the gondola |
We occupied 2 separate gondolas because they were quite small and each can only fit a maximum of 4 adults. Because each gondola's airconditioning unit is located below the seats, it cools only the lower part of the space around the leg and feet area. Not much cool air, really. However, we were quite busy taking in the view of Taal so we didn't mind the discomfort.

The children next rode the Express Train with its route going around the Sky Fun Amusement Park.

Then they rode the Red Baron next, which was the last ride for Caleb.

The final ride for Alec was the Nessi Coaster, which he enjoyed immensely, as what can be seen from his face every time the coaster speeds downward. Understandably, Caleb was not yet as brave as his big brother was.

Other rides that can be enjoyed by children are Wonder Flight, Carousel and the Mini Viking, the kiddie version of the Super Viking ride for adults.

There are various food stalls lined along the entrance of the amusement park offering snacks. There are also restaurant establishments waiting to be finished.

The Riding Loop where both kids and adults can ride horses. This is located at the entrance of the Sky Fun Amusement Park. We didn't try this because we thought it was way too expensive for the 2 kids to ride separate horses to be accompanied by adults. Maybe next time when they're a bit older.

The Sky Fun Experience
For the Sky Eye, honestly, we didn't feel that it was worth the money you shell out (Php900 for us) for a 10-minute, single loop ride. I mean we can surely enjoy Taal's view for far less than that. It would be a different story if people were to ride as a couple though, specially during sunset, which can be quite romantic.
For the Sky Fun Amusement Park itself, there are still lots of room for improvement. Given that there's still a lot of construction going on, I believe it could be another big hit like Star City or Enchanted Kingdom, if not better.
All in all, we enjoyed our visit at the Sky Fun, especially the kids. We definitely would come back and check out the later additions to the attractions within the amusement park.
