Gumbo - A Taste of New Orleans: Gateway Restaurants

For our fifth year wedding anniversary, hubby surprised me with a lunch reservation at Gumbo Gateway Mall. It's my first time to dine here and I honestly didn't know what to expect. We were greeted at the entrance by waitresses wearing fancy headdresses, more like fascinators actually.

Gumbo, as I later found out, is a New Orleans-inspired casual dining restaurant, as evidenced by its decorated walls and interiors. Even our table has this little display with Louisiana trivia games in it. The staff are very accommodating and served us their complimentary house bread while we were waiting for our orders. We were seated beside the huge glass wall with a view of the Araneta Center grounds.

We ordered the following:

Soup for the Day - Shrimp and Artichoke (Php 145) -  I super loved this soup being so creamy and tasty!
Shrimp and Artichoke

Pizza Extravaganza (Php475) -  This is a combination of 4 different pizza flavors: Pepperoni, Ham and Pineapple, Smoked Norwegian Salmon and All Meat, perfect for people like us who want to try everything. Of the 4, I loved the Smoked Norwegian Salmon flavor.

Seafood Lasagna (Php395) -  We both loved this very tasty lasagna with shrimp, tuna and other seafood, topped with creamy sauce and cheese.

T-bone Steak and Chicken with corn and mashed potato (Php475) and Bottomless Lemonade (Php80) - Served well done, as requested by hubby. He loved it, but the chicken was a little bland for my taste.

T-bone Steak and Shrimp with mushroom and mashed potato (Php475) and Bottomless Iced tea (Php80) - Steak was served well done as well. I loved this except for the mushrooms because I felt like it had too many onions

Food here is a bit pricey and they charge an additional 10% for service fee, but the taste of the food itself and the ambiance of the place made up for it. We got so full and satisfied that we didn't mind the bill much. Plus, we got to take home all our leftovers to share it with the kids we left at home, a great way to celebrate our anniversary.
