For our last night in Tagaytay, we decided to try out the restaurant Eway's Grill, located very near the Tagaytay Haven Hotel. According to the locals, this is a relatively new restaurant that had just opened a few months back.

Eway's Grill is an open-air restaurant with a relaxing ambiance that boasts of a perfect view of Taal from its two-floor dining area. The second floor native-themed decoration is quite interesting, with old, painted tree trunks and branches serving as column posts to support the nipa ceiling and an old banga which functions as the water source for the washing area.

The place also has separate nipa huts, offering a more private setting for dining couples and small groups.

As for the food, we ordered the following:
Pork Siningang and Bicol Express Veggies. The sinigang tasted like there was too much sinigang mix in the soup, to the point that my developing hyperacidity that time was aggravated. I had ordered coffee as soon as we arrived at the restaurant because I was feeling cold and a bit bloated. I came to realize later on that ordering pork sinigang for its soup had been a mistake and that we should have opted for their bulalo instead. While the Pork Sinigang had failed, the Bicol Express Veggies made up for it. The veggies were crisp and fresh, making it taste a bit sweet and not too spicy. It was really delicious.

Fried Chicken. This had always been the default food choice for the kids. There really was nothing special about it and the taste was just so-so.

Pork Sisig. As claimed by hubby, it was really tasty despite its not-too-attractive presentation. Appearance can really be deceiving sometimes. Haha!

All in all, our dining experience was great. Food was reasonably priced and more affordable than Diner's. Our total bill amounted to Php1000, inclusive of rice, coffee additional bulalo soup and drinks.
Taal at dusk, view from Eway's Grill |
What we appreciated most from Eway's Grill is the view that it has of Taal. One could also see the colorful lights of the Sky Eye from here. Too bad we had to leave early because the kids were already getting cold (it can get really chilly in the evenings, so better bring a sweater) and my hyperacidity was already acting up.
